Ed
Lundin started his career in the roofing business while still in
high school, working weekends and summers. He and his father introduced
spray polyurethane foam roofing systems to the Louisiana construction
market in 1965, and, in 1968, installed their first "single ply"
roof system using E.P.D.M. In the late 60's and early 70's, they
pioneered the use of silicones, acrylics, epoxies, vinyls and other
plastic materials for commercial and industrial use in roofing,
waterproofing, and spray polyurethane coatings.
In
1974 Lionel Hotstream joined the company and, within a few years,
became the field superintendent. He helped develop field quality
control and safety procedures for the spray polyurethane foam industry
that are still in use today.
In 1983, Ed
Lundin, Sr. sold the business, and after working for the new management
for two years, Ed Jr. decided to start his own roofing and sheet
metal business.
Ed Jr. and Lionel
incorporated Lundin Roofing in June of 1985 and started operations
in August of the same year. Even with initial start-up costs the
company managed a small profit in 1985 and has been profitable every
year since.
From
the company's inception, Ed and Lionel recognized the need for a
professional roofing company that trained its employees to install
quality roofing systems. They also recognized the need to charge
a fair price for their services, so that they could keep their highly
trained employees and maintain the quality and safety that their
customers demanded. These are the fundamental business practices
upon which Lundin Roofing was founded. They hold true today.
